NEXT architecture designed Rice Energy’s headquarters located at Southpointe II business park in Canonsburg, PA. Placing an emphasis on their seasoned and diversified employee base, NEXT performed an in-depth company-wide programming exercise to determine their necessary spatial and design needs. Stacking and internal adjacency studies were completed and utilized during the design process of their new, 150,000 square foot industry leading facility.

The design challenge for the project was to integrate Rice Energy’s enthusiastic culture and mission into the interior architecture of the space. Rice Energy is a leader in natural gas extraction therefore, the design team incorporated fractured materials and abstracted topographical elements throughout the plan to connect with Rice’s mission. Color changing LED lighting was used to bring excitement to the architectural features. The interior floor layout includes multiple modes of work styles in an open plan while blending classic finishes in a contemporary application. In addition, NEXT coordinated the selection and procurement of over 4 million dollars of workplace furnishings.
