Carnegie Mellon University, Newell Simon Hall info
Pittsburgh, PANEXT architecture partnered with Carnegie Mellon University to enhance Newell Simon Hall's robotics facilities into a vibrant hub for innovation. The project included renovations of faculty and graduate student office areas and includes two lab spaces that were also renovated to support robotics research. The project features a cantilevered glass conference room that looks out onto a robotics highbay space along with a large cafe that serves both faculty and graduate students. New offices and workstations have significantly increased access to daylight and views. The lab spaces feature an abundance of power at the perimeter, overhead power reels, and a Starline busway system that offers lab users user friendly power flexibility.
The project proudly earned LEED Silver Certification while diverting approximately 80% of waste from landfills.
