NEXT worked with Carnegie Mellon University’s Integrated Innovation Institute (III) to move them from their facility on Forbes Avenue to 311 South Craig Street in Pittsburgh, PA. The renovation was a ‘gut’ of two existing floors in 311 South Craig to accommodate 12,700 SF of classrooms, huddle rooms, collaborative common areas and faculty & staff offices. NEXT was inspired by III’s unique branding and reimaged it’s application through acoustic baffles and lighting in the ceiling. The space utilizes warm wood tones and a simple palette to allow the work III’s students do to be the spotlight of the space and create a timeless educational environment.
